BioShock creator Ken Levine has gone on record defending the end of Mass Effect 3.
As is well known, many people don't really care for the ending. However, love it or hate it, you're sure to remember it, and according to BioWare's Casey Hudson, that's half the point. While I haven't played the game to see the much maligned ending, I have a gut feeling that the hatred for the end is being overblown. And frankly, anyone who has as much time on their hands as the people who have been complaining nonstop on the internet and campaigning to have it changed probably doesn't have an opinion that matters to me, quite frankly.
Regardless, Eurogamer reports that Ken Levine spoke about the ending at a Smithsonian panel last week. He said the ending was an important moment and added: "I think if those people got what they wanted and [BioWare] wrote their ending they would be very disappointed in the emotional feeling they got because… they didn't really create it."
"This whole thing is making me a little bit sad because I don't think anyone would get what they wanted if that happened."
So there you have it…Ken Levine says to leave the ending of the game alone. Being that Ken Levine is basically a genius and the internet is…well, the internet, I saw let's take his advice, huh?
