Guerrilla Games may have pressed reset on their next big game.

Earlier this year, the studio revealed Horizon Hunters Gathering, an online co-op PvE game where Aloy and her fellow Hunters take on hordes of Monsters, in gameplay reminiscent of Monster Hunter.
At the time, Jason Schreier claimed that most of Guerrilla was working on this title, and they weren’t making a new numbered Horizon sequel for a few years.
Today, Jason claims that after poor playtesting, Sony and Guerrilla is removing Horizon Hunters Gathering’s live service component to make it a smaller story based co-op multiplayer game.
While the game is not canceled, Guerrilla is not “safe.” Many of the developers will be moved to a different title that will also be re-evaluated before 2026 ends. Sony declined to comment on this story.
Horizon fans might actually like a Monster Hunter copycat that lets them play their favorite characters, and Guerrilla might whip up something that will draw new fans in. The only remaining question now is if this game is still coming to PC.
