Gran Turismo Sport will not offer dynamic weather and the passing of time. Unlike other racing games, including Forza Motorsport 6 and Drive Club, the upcoming PS4-exclusive game will not have these features.
In past GT games, dynamic weather and time-of-day changes were present on certain tracks, but not all. Instead, players will only be able to set the time of day manually before the race commences. According to the developer, removing these features allows them to increase the overall performance and quality of the game.
“We opted to not have the transitions in the race this time in order to raise the framerate and the quality of the image during the race,” said series director Kazunori Yamauchi in an interview with GTPlanet. “So the user will be able to set that before they enter the race. So you’ll still be able to have night races, morning, races at dawn, dusk, and so on.”
This may be disappointing to any players expecting these features, but obviously the developers felt that the trade-off was worth it for performance.
Gran Turismo Sport is set for release on November 18.
