Rockstar apparently has a really scary level of security.

Grand Theft Auto 6 Alerts shared this on Twitter last week:
Rockstar’s FBI level security is INSANE!
Jamie King, co-founder of Rockstar Games claims their FBI and CIA level security is so aggressive that leakers are caught within 2 hours.
Who Is Jamie King?
His name isn’t as famous as the Houser brothers, so many Rockstar fans may not know this. But King came from Take-Two when he joined the Housers and Terry Donovan as founder of Rockstar Games all the way back in 1997.
He was credited as early as Grand Theft Auto 2 in 1999, all the way until Grand Theft AutoI Liberty City Stories in 2005. He left Rockstar in 2006, and now works as Chief Marketing Officer for Minutes Network.
Jamie King On Rockstar’s Security
Jamie was interviewed by Killaz in 2021 about all things Rockstar. This is what he said at the time about Rockstar’s security level when he was still working there:
…Because you take great pride in having an FBI CIA level of approach to your cyber security.
Like… we were military. Both internally and then we would just be listening and watching online.
And we were very, very sensitive to even like the discs going to the Sony manufacturing plant to get replicated. I would like drive the submission this to the airport.
We’d hand courier them overnight right to California to get them tested, and then we would be paying attention.
And then we would be all over it immediately within two hours someone’s on their door, you fucking stole it, and game over.
Look at the ransomware, you talked about Covid affecting eSports and gaming, look at the ransomware attacks on the videogame out of control.
Look at Cyberpunk. You gotta really be like you know Rockstar definitely pays attention.
Is This Still Credible After The Grand Theft Auto 6 Leak?
Grand Theft Auto 6 was famously leaked in 2022, a year after this interview. On top of that, King was citing his experience in the company over a decade since he was there.
To be fair, the 2022 leak also involved other tech companies, and became serious enough to involve the actual FBI. So that was at a different level than what Rockstar had to worry about in King’s time.
But when someone asked Grand Theft Auto 6 Alerts about just how high level their security is now, he said this:
I think I heard somewhere that Rockstar Games even has private detectives.
