Gamers love to collect things. In fact, it’s one of the things they love about gaming in general. First, they can get things within the video games they love, and then, if they’re lucky, they’ll be able to get things outside of the game, like clothing, trinkets, statues, that kind of thing. Gearbox Software is the team behind the Borderlands franchise, and while the franchise hasn’t been in the best of places recently, the team is trying to bring players back to their side by offering a special “mystery bundle” that will contain things from across the franchise. Sounds fun, right?
As noted on their website, here’s what the “mystery bundle” is all about:
“Step onto the chaotic planets of Pandora or the magical lands of Bunkers and Badasses with the Gearbox Mystery Bundle! Each bundle is packed with an awesome selection of loot from the worlds of Borderlands and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.
Every bundle includes one premium statue or collectible along with 3-4 additional surprise items from the games you love. With a retail value of up to $203, this bundle is a fantastic way to level up your collection with great Gearbox loot!
Please note: While we strive to create unique bundles, ordering multiple may result in duplicates. All sales are final and non-refundable.
Don’t miss out—grab your Gearbox Mystery Bundle today and get your hands on some sweet loot!”
As you can see, this is a real thing, and something that will be given to you in the real world, not the digital one. That alone would make it worth quite a bit of money to a lot of gamers. Granted, Gearbox Software isn’t fully telling you “what’s in the box,” but that’s part of the fun of mystery things like this. Life needs a few surprises, you know?
The reason that Gearbox might be trying to make this a success is that it’s been taking quite a few hits over the last couple of months due to the release of its latest game. The title has been rather divisive in terms of what it did, what it didn’t do, and how the team reacted to fan complaints. More specifically, how Gearbox head Randy Pitchford replied to fan complaints. While many fixes have been made, there are still plenty of issues to be had, and that’s weighing on players.
So, perhaps this little bundle is their way of trying to “end things on a high note.”
