Divinity With The Help Of AI Will Be Ready In 4 Years

December 16, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

Larian Studios is hard at work delivering its next big RPG.

Larian Studios has a lot more attention on them now after their immense success with Baldur’s Gate 3. While the studio has been around for decades, it wouldn’t be until just a few years ago that everyone was talking about this team. Baldur’s Gate 3 was a massive hit and won a number of awards. So with all this newfound attention, money, and expansion for the studio, the bar of expectations is set incredibly high. The game that will hopefully meet, if not surpass, those expectations is Divinity.

Prior to The Game Awards, a mysterious statue had been circulating online. Players were wondering what the photo of this statue pertained to regarding The Game Awards. Fortunately, we learned during the grand ceremony event that this statue was tied to Larian Studios and their next big game release. Divinity should hopefully bring some of the magic back into the development team after Baldur’s Gate 3, and the CEO of Larian Studios, Swen Vincke, noted that they are aiming to bring this game out faster than with their previous hit.

Divinity Will Be Out In Four Years

There’s a lot of work that goes into game development. However, one tool that can help streamline the process a bit more quickly is AI. That is a touchy subject, and we’ve seen some developers shy away from using these kinds of tools. However, Larian Studios is all for generative AI to help bring this next game out and speed up development. With that noted, you won’t see anything crafted up by AI when the game actually releases. That’s according to Vincke during an interview with Bloomberg.

Meanwhile, developers are looking for more ways to speed up development beyond just using AI for certain aspects. Another way to do so is to have writers work on quests and storylines in parallel rather than the old linear approach, as Bloomberg noted. We’ll just have to see if the team can pull this off, and if so, we’re not going to be stuck waiting as long as we did to see Baldur’s Gate 3 finally launch into the marketplace.

Of course, many of us are waiting to learn a little more about their next project. While we know about Divinity as a series, we’re interested to know what this particular installment is all about. That said, we won’t be the only ones wondering, as neither PlayStation nor Xbox was given a heads-up on this game. Turns out they only learned about the new installment during The Game Awards like the rest of us.
