A Safehouse in the Hills has added something really cool for longtime Grand Theft Auto Online players.

As explained by RockstarIntel, thanks to this update, you can now install a Missile Lock-On Jammer to even more vehicles.
What Is A Missile Lock-On Jammer?
The name may be a little confusing for players. This jammer doesn’t block all missiles from hitting your vehicle. But what it does do is make sure that missiles can’t lock on to the vehicle.
That means that if your vehicle is moving in the right angle, you can avoid a missile going towards you completely. So, if someone is going after you with a fighter jet, an Oprressor Mk II, or even using a handheld mortar, they won’t be able to target you.
Are Missile Lock-On Jammers Real?
The simple answer is yes, you can jam a missile’s lock-on system from finding you. But for the purposes of being a video game, Grand Theft Auto Online has a highly fictionalized depiction of this technology.
The general term for this anti-weapon technology is electronic countermeasures (ECM). ECMs can include jamming radio and radar signals, and using deceptive measures, such as spoofing.
ECM is incredibly sophisticated and almostl exclusively has military applications. They’re usually found in military planes and ships, though ground based ECM technology also exists.
Of course, on a civilian/criminal level, people can get radar jammers for their private vehicles. These are of course highly illegal in most countries, including the US. And these are nowhere near sophisticated enough to do what Missile Lock-On Jammers do.
Missile Lock-On Jammers In Rockstar Lore
Missile Lock-On Jammers were introduced in Grand Theft Auto Online: The Contract in 2021. Imani, one of the main NPCs in this update, gives you several incredible and highly unrealistic vehicle parts tech.
We’re sure a hacker with Imani’s fictional background could also have the knowledge and technical skill to be a weapons manufacturer. She could even have a homelab setup to make them herself. What stretches reality is that she could make these devices made to order as quickly as she can in The Contract.
This update doesn’t enable Missile Lock-On Jammers on every vehicle you can get in the game. But now it’s highly unlikely that you won’t have a vehicle that can use it, especially if you’ve been building a collection for a few years now.
