Grand Theft Auto Online: A Safehouse in the Hills just went live, but there’s already a huge reason to be excited.

The Potential Of The Mission Creator

As we found out last week, this update comes with a new mission creator. It’s an incredible new and unexpected addition to Grand Theft Auto Online.

In particular, this creator will give players the chance to build their own content on game consoles. While there are definitely a lot of Grand Theft Auto Online PC players, this opportunity opens up the field to even more players to try their hand out in content creation.

And now, we know that the potential in the mission creator will be really high.

Creating Your Own Cutscenes

We got this information from videotechuk on Twitter:

The new Mission Creator is about to change GTA Online. @RockstarGames have absolutely gone above and beyond with this.

It lets you make up cutscenes, provides the ability to select any door (Pacific Standard included) to unlock interiors, lets you remove world objects.

The community is obviously still learning about the mission creator as you read this, but this is such a huge unexpected feature.

This means creators didn’t just have to depend on writing some text to explain the missions they are creating. Creators can build their missions as if they worked for Rockstar themselves.

Or perhaps, you could say it is as if they were making their own mission in a GTA RP server. And this raises the question:

Is This Where Rockstar Online Modding Engine Was Leading To?

Rumors about Rockstar Online Modding Engine or ROME have been spreading for years now. Part of the speculation is driven by rumors that Rockstar chose to put ROME above GTA RP server software FiveM.

We now know that that isn’t the case, since FiveM seems set to debut on Steam. But it may be the case that Rockstar really was building ROME at the same time that they were incorporating FiveM.

In fact, we think this Mission Creator is part of a bigger plan that involves FiveM and ROME as well.

We would not be surprised if this Mission Creator is connected to ROME itself. Maybe this creator is built on ROME, or maybe not.

It’s also possible this is a proof of concept for even bigger plans that Rockstar will be implementing in Grand Theft Auto 6’s version of Grand Theft Auto Online.
