Grand Theft Auto Online Now Has Halloween Weather (But What Does That Mean?)

October 23, 2025 by Ryan Parreno

Real life UFO activity doesn’t invoke Halloween weather – and that’s kinda scary.

There’s a big change that’s come to Grand Theft Auto Online – but if you’ve been playing for years, you know what to expect.

Tez2 posted a picture with this caption:

Halloween weather is active

The picture shows San Andreas overcast with clouds. A strange brown orange hue has enveloped the city. While everything is still visible, it creates an ominous atmosphere.

What Does This Halloween Weather Mean?

PLTytus actually explains what this all means on Twitter:

Halloween weather is already active! Meaning UFO is now present longer, between 7:30 PM and 6:30 AM (but no abductions yet, abductions starts October 30th).

PLTytus previously shared the planned schedule for UFO appearances for Grand Theft Auto Online’s Halloween events.

Do UFOs Really Change The Weather?

There is a conspiracy theory that UFOs could secretly be causing climate change. But that’s not what we’re talking about here.

In the world of Grand Theft Auto Online, UFOs can start changing the weather the longer that they keep showing up. In Hollywood, it certainly adds atmosphere and tension when we see the weather change before a UFO shows up.

A real life University of Utah study has found that there is some correlation between UFOs and weather. But it’s not what you think.

For this research, a group of geographers studied UFO sightings that occurred from 2001 to 2020. They paid attention to details like weather, pollution, proximity to military bases, and others.

Statistically, more UFO sightings have occurred in places where there are no buildings or mountains blocking the way. It’s just the exact opposite way that UFO sightings occur in the popular imagination.

The study also found that some UFO sightings could be easily debunked. Sometimes, cloud formations and other atmospheric phenomena create shapes that look like UFOs.

But these are now classified as fake sightings. And that’s because the US government is now openly talking about the UFO and UAP (unexplained anomalous phenomena) sightings they have recorded.

With everything else that happens in the world, we wouldn’t blame you for forgetting that we have known that UFOs are real for some time now.

And it’s also disconcerting to think that they are real enough that some sightings can be made out in the open. But at least for now, most of us can take solace in the fiction of UFOs.

UFO events will keep going until the end of the month in Grand Theft Auto Online. Beyond that, well, maybe you should open your windows and look to the skies.
