We’re living in a time where video games are being faithfully adapted into television series and movies. It’s a growing trend as we continue to see more game IPs being picked up for a new attempt in a different entertainment medium format. However, one franchise that has seen several attempts and some success in the past has been Resident Evil.
Resident Evil has been around for ages. With its popularity, it was only a matter of time before it was picked up for a feature film. We all saw the various movies and animated series that were released. Some were well received, while others failed to attract an audience. That said, there is another attempt to bring this franchise back to theaters.
Resident Evil Movie Plot Leak
We know very little about the official details of this new movie. What we do know is that the director Zach Cregger is working on the film. However, thanks to Comicbook.com, we’re learning that industry insider DanielRPK on Patreon has shared what they recently learned. According to the insider, we might know where the film will be situated within the storyline in relation to the video games.
Now, we don’t know if this canon or if the premise is real, but it’s noted that we’re following an organ courier named Bryan. One night, Bryan is sent for a delivery to Raccoon City General Hospital. However, upon driving, he hits a woman with his car. While she survived, something went terribly wrong with her. From there, we’ll follow Bryan as he’s stuck in an outbreak that has taken over the city.
So, it looks like we are going to be tossed into the heat of it all. In terms of the video games, the movie seems to be set during the events of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3. Of course, whether we’ll see any cameo appearances from some of the iconic characters from those games remains a mystery.
Again, take this as nothing more than a rumor right now. It’s not an official premise or plot. Instead, we’re working off from an insider report. Still, we’re certainly interested in seeing if this new movie delivers. Meanwhile, regarding the video game franchise, we know that Resident Evil: Requiem is the next game in development, set in Raccoon City, albeit several years after the events of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3.
