Far from leaving Battlefield 3 alone to work on something new, DICE has huge plans for the game this year with the announcement that it will be releasing three new DLCs.
Battlefield 3 currently enjoys 12 million active players and continues to grow every day, despite the community's complaints that DICE have been neglecting the title.
Speaking on the subject, DICE executive producer Patrick Bach said that players will get three new themed expansions instead of map packs.
"Instead of delivering piecemeal map packs, we’re giving players a completely new experience with every themed expansion pack to keep the action fresh," he said.
"Our expansions are designed to excite our large and active fan base while attracting new recruits with gameplay that is dynamic and unpredictable every time."
Here's what's in store:
Battlefield 3 Close Quarters
Close Quarters places players in a CQB-heavy infantry-only theater of war, as players walk through the indoors of buildings. Close Quarters is set for release in June.
Battlefield 3 Armored Kill
Armored Kill will be a vehicle-heavy DLC featuring new vehicles including new tanks, ATVs, mobile artillery, and more. It will also include what DICE is calling the "biggest map in Battlefield history." It will be out in the Fall.
Battlefield 3 End Game
Nothing is known about End Game, except that this fourth DLC will release in the winter.
