As we continue to get closer to the release of Donkey Kong Bananza, Nintendo will do all it can to ensure that the game is as popular as possible within the fanbase so that the game can have a truly massive launch on July 17th. To its credit, The Big N has done a lot to boost the goodwill of the game, and many are eager to get it. Part of this reason was because of the incredible Nintendo Direct that we got two weeks back, which broke down everything important about the title and showed us just how vast and fun it’ll be.
Since then, Nintendo has been dishing out mini-teasers and insights into the game so that gamers can have even more information about it and keep the “good vibes” rolling. Yesterday, they took it one step further by releasing a US commercial/trailer for Donkey Kong Bananza. In it, we see someone playing the game while being encouraged by a group of people chanting “DK!” It’s a simple but effective commercial, and the comments were full of positive responses about the game and what it would be like:
There were also previews that came out for the game yesterday, and all of them were positive as well. Donkey Kong’s newest title might just be his most interesting game in decades. That’s not to say more recent games were bad, but they followed the same formula from the SNES titles, and fans have been asking for something “more” for a while now. This could be the opportunity they’ve been waiting for.
As for what the game itself is about. Donkey Kong gets called to an island to help look for some special bananas. While doing so, he gets sucked into an underground world, one where there are a bunch of evil kongs known as the “Void Company” who are trying to use the golden bananas for nefarious purposes.
Along the way, DK meets an “Odd Rock” who happens to actually be a younger version of Pauline! Together, the two will travel to the planet’s core in the hopes of being granted a wish that’ll take them back to the surface.
The gameplay will feature DK and Pauline going through massive areas where Donkey Kong can basically destroy everything in sight. Plus, Pauline can help him transform into new “Bananza” forms that’ll allow him new transformations.
Add that to a skill tree, plenty of music tracks to find, and more, and this game will likely be something truly special.
