Diablo fans are still enjoying the latest mainline installment, and they shouldn’t fear the game being dropped for the next installment. Instead, Diablo 5 is a long way off. We’re not sure if there is already some planned content for that next installment, but even if something is in the works, Diablo 4 will take up your time for about a decade.
Thanks to VGC, we’re finding out that the Game File newsletter featured a question for Rod Fergusson, the head of the Diablo series at Blizzard Entertainment. More specifically, Riot Games’ Marc Merrill also submitted a question for Rod Fergusson. According to the report, Rod was asked about the next big inflection point and installment for the Diablo franchise.
According to Rod, there is no push right now for that next installment. Instead, he has about ten years of content worked out. That’s already been cut down from his initial twelve-year road map. It’s all an effort to see this game thrive with new content. Likewise, it’s noted that the developers are honing in on what players want. Unfortunately, we didn’t get any more details than that.
Of course, the 2025 roadmap was unveiled not long ago. With it, we have new seasonal content and some additions. Unfortunately, don’t expect the next major expansion this year. Instead, it looks like the next expansion is not set to take place until sometime in 2026. But the real story here is that you should have plenty of content, including expansions, that will keep you playing Diablo 4 for the long haul.
That said, if you haven’t picked up Diablo 4, we do have a Before You Buy video you can check out. This will give you some gameplay footage along with our overall impressions of the game. Of course, the video only touches on the game when it initially released.
