We all have a console we grew up with. Sometimes, it’s nice going back and playing the retro games that helped shape us as the gamers we are today. For some of you, that console you spent countless hours playing was the Nintendo 64. Fortunately, some of those games we played back in the day are available through Nintendo’s online services. However, you might be more interested in obtaining the proper hardware to play the original cartridges. One of those consoles that might have been appealing to play N64 games today is the Analogue 3D.
It wasn’t too long ago that Nintendo’s patents for the Nintendo 64 console expired. This opened up the floodgates for other companies to make consoles that would be legally compatible with N64 games. One of the companies that have made a name for themselves by offering new takes on old consoles is Analogue. The company also revealed its Analogue 3D a few years ago, which would bring the N64 out but with some new enhancements like 4K resolution.
Everything you would expect from a Nintendo 64 is there, but with the hardware to bring out a vastly better quality experience without emulation. Naturally, much like past console releases from the company, the stock was quickly bought up with expectations for the console to ship within the first quarter of this year.
However, it was confirmed on X, the company revealed that they are delaying the shipping of the consoles until July of this year. It wasn’t unveiled why exactly they are delaying the console. However, it was noted that those who don’t want to wait can cancel their pre-order and receive a complete refund. Unfortunately, we are not getting any insight into why they are pushing this console back, but at least it’s still slated to come out within the calendar year.
