Sonic The Hedgehog 3 Star Would Be Totally Up For Tails Spinoff!

January 24, 2025 by Todd Black

Good to go!

As Sonic The Hedgehog 3 continues to race to higher heights at the global box office, the question becomes, “What’s next for the franchise?” The good news is that part of that answer is already known, as the 4th movie in the line has already been confirmed, with two characters, Amy Rose and Metal Sonic, being shown in the post-credits sequence, showcasing their importance for the next movie. That being said, something that fans are also wondering about is spinoffs. After the second movie arrived, we got a spinoff featuring Knuckles, and both the fans and the movie’s actors are up for more of those featuring certain characters.

That includes Colleen O’Shaughnessey, who has voiced Miles “Tails” Prower in both video games and the live-action movies. She thinks, as noted by her talk with ComicBook.com, that Tails is in a prime position for a spinoff feature, and she already knows what it could focus on:

“I think you could absolutely do a spin-off with Tails. An origin story for Tails would be amazing, to see where he came from… a little baby Tails. I would love it. Is it of course amazing to have him with Sonic? For sure, because they are you know… a sidekick/hero combination. They work so well together. But I think it would be really neat to see where he came from. Why not?”

Indeed, why not? It should be noted again that Knuckles had a six-episode spinoff series on Paramount+, and it focused on him and a certain human going through some trials. For Tails, they could do the same thing, just with a different tone. A tone that Colleen feels highlights why the character is so beloved:

“He’s adorable. He’s smart, he’s clever, he’s earnest, he’s loyal… he’s your best friend, always. What you see is what you get. There’s no surreptitiousness… he’s not sneaking around; he’s not trying to get something out of you. What you see is what you get. And he’s just so dear. I just love him.”

Another character that many people think could get the spinoff treatment is Shadow The Hedgehog. That’s more likely than you might think, as it was shown he is alive after the events of Sonic The Hedgehog 3, and by doing a spinoff show/film starring Shadow, the team behind the live-action franchise could introduce some key characters close to him, like Rouge the Bat and Gamma the robot.

We’ll have to see who gets the next spinoff.
