Activision has dropped the details for Call of Duty Black Ops 6’s crossover with Squid Game 2.
Without revealing too much about the Netflix show’s second season, it’s fitting that players can now take sides between the guards and the players, as a little rebellion erupts in the middle of the games as well. If you’re playing in Activison’s servers, though, everything is going to be mostly familiar.
The Squid Game Event Pass is free, and of course, there’s a premium track worth 1100 COD Points. There are also Tracer Pack bundles to play the Pink Guards, VIPs, and even Young-hee. The free reward track includes Player 006 and 115 Operator Skins, as well as Squaid Game themed Loading Screen, Emblem, Sticker, Calling Card, etc. The free track Mastery Reward is a Cleaver, perfect for recreating those exploitation movie moments.
There are several themed Limited Time Modes, but only one is wholly original. We’ll go ahead and quote Activision’s description of Red Light, Green Light straight from the Call of Duty Blog below:
“Young-hee is watching, so don’t misstep at the wrong time. Get on the pitch in the Red Card stadium and play three rounds of Red Light, Green Light, each two minutes long. In Round 1, no one gets a weapon. In Round 2 and 3, you can pick up weapons on the ground and eliminate other competitors with melee attacks and Finishing Moves.
There’s just one simple rule: When Young-hee says “Green Light,” the fight is on. Move a muscle after she says “Red Light” and you’re toast.”
The Squid Game Moshpit arrives as its own map, where you can play Team Deathmatch, Domination, and MatchPoint. Playing in the moshpit will also allow you to engage a Red Light, Green Light Scorestreak, drop Piggy Banks, or get the high risk, high reward Roulette Handgun.
Red Light, Green Light will also be available in the Zombies maps Liberty Falls and Citadelle des Morts. Finally, Call of Duty Warzone will get Squid Game 2 content on Urzikstan, and yes, that also includes Red Light, Green Light.
Perhaps unfortunately for Activision and Microsoft, Call of Duty may have a looming problem with cheaters that they don’t seem to acknowledge, in spite of a growing backlash from players, including from content creators. Activision may be addressing most of these issues by the time the event launches. But we’ll see if the players will stick around for a potentially broken experience, in a crossover for a transmedia franchise where everything was already stacked against the players to begin with.
