Far Cry 7 Reportedly Pushed Back Internally

December 17, 2024 by Dennis Patrick

Ubisoft is changing things up with the Far Cry formula.

There are never any shortages regarding rumors, leaks, and speculation in the video game industry. We see countless reports online and on forums. While most of these reports can be false, there are a few industry insiders that fans will notice. One of those industry insiders with a strong track record and following is Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming. The insider recently just commented on the upcoming Far Cry 7 game that has yet to be unveiled.

Ubisoft has had a rough patch lately, with there even being the potential of a buyout. One of the game franchises the company is known for is Far Cry, and if you had been waiting to hear about what was coming in the series after Far Cry 6, you might have been waiting a while longer. Tom Henderson noted that the game project was internally delayed from 2025 to 2026. So, we might wait until later in the upcoming year before Ubisoft is ready to pull the veil on this game. However, it’s not just one single game.

As noted in the past, Tom Henderson states that there are two projects coming for Far Cry fans. We have the next mainline installment and a multiplayer extraction-based shooter. Both will have a new formula, with players dealing with harsh weather and an upgraded movement system to survive. If the report is to be believed, players can now do tactical sprints, sliding, vaults, and more. So, it would seem like we have an overall faster combat experience.

We also have a little more insight into the Far Cry 7 premise. According to the report from Insider Gaming, the focus is on payers having to rescue their kidnapped family from a conspiracy cult. It also seems there will be a time limit in place here with 72 hours of in-game tracking for players to rescue their families successfully. That also correlates to 24 real-life hours.

Of course, this is just a report from an industry insider. While they have a proven track record, it’s best to take this as a rumor until Ubisoft officially unveils the two games.
