Cyberpunk 2077 fans thought we had seen all of the new official content added to the game. Most believed the title was sunsetted as developers from CD Projekt Red went on to work on either its sequel, the next installment of The Witcher franchise, or the mysterious new IP. However, what shocked fans this week was that the game received a surprising new update.
CD Projekt Red wasn’t yet ready to call it quits on Cyberpunk 2077. While we don’t know if this 2.2 update will be the final update and nail to the coffin for this game, we can at least enjoy some new content. At any rate, while there was an official CD Projekt Red stream to highlight the 2.2 update, we knew there would be some hidden secrets for players to uncover eventually. One was highlighted online thanks to IGN. This new quest uncovered is centered around the very popular deckbuilding game Balatro.
If you’re a fan of Balatro, then you know that the game already featured a crossover with Cyberpunk 2077. But now, it was CD Projekt Red’s chance to return the favor by featuring a quest highlighting this game. It’s a collection-based quest in which V is asked by Jim B. to find all the scattered Jokers around Night City.
Once you find all the Jokers, you’ll get awarded a new Joker shirt and a trophy featured at V’s apartment. Since this discovery was found and shared online, CD Projekt Red’s PR director, Radek Grabowski, took it to X and shared a little more background on the quest. It was noted that Radek asked the quest design team if they would like to add Balatro references to Cyberpunk 2077 after they found the Balatro team featured their game in a small crossover.
We’ll have to wait and see just what other secrets are uncovered from Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.2 update. Meanwhile, in other news regarding CD Projekt Red, we know they have recently gone into full production for The Witcher 4. However, previous comments made by Geralt’s voice actor might have gotten them in a little hot water.
