Evercade produces a line of gaming consoles that are centred around retro aesthetics and retro games. Evercade also produces a line of handheld consoles. The appeal of these consoles is that the games are on physical media. Now Evercade and SNK are getting together.
As spotted over on VGC, Evercade has announced that they will be partnering with SNK. That’s what’s been missing with all of their consoles. There are more than 60 cartridges and over 500 officially licensed games. With Evercade’s focus on arcade games, the omission of the Neo Geo games is overwhelmingly apparent.
Now there is no guarantee that a partnership with SNK means a whole array of Neo Geo games. It could mean a new console, perhaps a Neo Geo Pocket Color reboot but with some of Evercades game catalogue available in that perfect form factor. Or the partnership could just mean that SNK-style countertop arcade machines are going to be available in the future.
For now, all we have is a short teaser trailer from Evercade announcing the partnership and that something big is coming in 2025. Perhaps there will be more information soon, but for the time being that’s all we get.
The Evercade consoles have featured some great fighting games and might make the perfect stocking stuffer for Christmas. If you’d like to find out more about the Evercade EXP, click here.
