Ubisoft has had a bit of a rough stretch recently. But with the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the studio is attempting to turn things around. We’re now finding out that the next Assassin’s Creed game is seemingly being developed by several individuals who haven’t shipped a game before. This might start raising some alarms for fans.
Thanks to a report from Tech4Gamers, we’re finding out that not long ago, during an XDS24 fireside keynote, a Ubisoft producer revealed just how many juniors are working in the company. Marc-Alexis Côté recently talked about his career journey and offered some insight within the games industry. However, during the conversation, it was unveiled that Marc-Alexis Côté found quite a large number of junior staff joining the ranks since the pandemic.
New blood is always great to see, as it can bring fresh ideas or help carry the torch for a company in the coming years. But Marc-Alexis Côté noted that he estimates that about half of the team working on Assassin’s Creed Shadows has never developed a game. Before that starts raising alarms for you, the producer spoke about his start with the franchise.
Marc-Alexis Côté noted that when he first worked on an Assassin’s Creed game, he felt that just months before release, it would never ship. But with transparency and play testing, the team was able to push out an incredibly successful game into the marketplace.
So, while seniority has lowered, company leaders must encourage developers and be transparent to show that their game can be fantastic by the time it’s ready to ship. Of course, we’ll have to wait and see if that is the case when Assassin’s Creed Shadows drops on February 14, 2025.
In other news regarding Ubisoft, details about a project inspired by Animal Crossing leaked online. Furthermore, they face a lawsuit over forcing remote workers back to their offices.
