[REDACTED] Devs Share A Little Insight Into The Enemies You’ll Face

October 28, 2024 by Dennis Patrick

Get ready to return to Black Iron Prison.

The Callisto Protocol might not have hit the strides developers were looking for. It may have missed the mark for some, but the developers are not done with this IP. Instead of bringing on a sequel installment, we’re getting a new roguelike experience. Players can prepare to reenter the Black Iron Prison in [REDACTED].

[REDACTED] is the next installment of this IP, and it’s a top-down shooter roguelike. The experience will be a bit different, and easily, the most significant change for some outside of the actual gameplay mechanics is the visuals. Developers are going with a very colorful comic book art style here. However, this game will still be brutal, with enemies lurking within the Black Iron Prison.

If you haven’t played The Callisto Protocol, the Black Iron Prison is on Callisto, Jupiter’s moon. However, you soon find that this area becomes infected, mutating the inmates into deadly beasts. Being a prison guard, you’re simply trying to survive and make your way to an escape pod.

On the official PlayStation Blog, the developers offered insight into the enemies you’ll face against. We don’t have a complete rundown of every enemy, but we know that some of the enemies you’ll have faced in The Callisto Protocol will appear in [REDACTED]. For instance, there are Danglers and their variants, which will slowly crawl up in hordes before they blow up. However, there are some newcomers to the game, such as the Cybernetic Switcher. Developers describe this enemy as a fast melee enemy that can alternate between blocking melee and ranged attacks. So you can expect to change your combat when these guys pop up.

Crazed Prisoners will be here as well, and while they are noted to be weak, they can be chaotic as they lob grenades. Then there’s the Robot Shaman, who can give shields to enemies, making you bring down their shields before inflicting any real damage.

Of course, it’s noted that players will have quite an uphill battle as they approach the game’s final levels. While we don’t have all the insight into the enemies we’ll be battling against, it does look like [REDACTED] will be quite an action-packed experience.

Currently, [REDACTED] is set to launch on October 31, 2024. When the game is released, it will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
