More job cuts have hit the games development industry, leaving Starbreeze Studios down 25 people.
Starbreeze Studios, the Swedish developer behind the Syndicate reboot, made the 25 job cuts recently as part of a size down of the studio, which also recently completed development of the game.
“It is sad that we are forced to make staff cutbacks affecting employees,” said The CEO of Starbreeze, Mikael Nermark. “But we have to reduce staff after the delivery of Syndicate.”
Peter Tornquist, board member, will also resign from Starbreeze’s board with no replacements planned as of yet..
Founded in 1998, Starbreeze Studios worked on games such as Knights of the Temple, The Chronicles of Riddick, Enclave and The Darkness. The Sydicate is due for release next week – unless you live in Australia, where the game has been refused classification (banned) because the Classification Board doesn’t think Australia is ready for big boy pants yet.
Best of luck to those who have been affected by the cuts.
