Nintendo’s latest Switch bundle has been confirmed.
Nintendo’s Australia and New Zealand division has revealed the official Nintendo Switch OLED Super Mario Bros. Wonder bundle on Twitter. The bundle will come with a white Switch OLED, a twelve month Switch Online subscription via code, and a download code for Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
Last week, we reported on a rumor from Dealabs editor billbil-kun that Nintendo was going to reveal this bundle. But, we are going to point out that they claimed it would be three months of Nintendo Switch Online, and this bundle is for twelve months of the subscription service. billbil-kun also claimed that this bundle was coming to Europe. So, it is possible that they had information for bundles for Europe, but not for this region.
This bundle getting confirmed does make billbil-kun’s other rumors about Nintendo Switch bundles worth revisiting. After this initial rumor, they revealed more details on what they know about upcoming Switch bundles. We’ll review the other bundle rumors, as translated on Resetera by user Neoxon.
There are five new bundles that will be revealed in total. One will be called the Nintendo Switch Sports Pack. This bundle will have a non-OLED Nintendo Switch console, a pre-installed copy of Nintendo Switch Sports, and a 12 month subscription for Nintendo Switch Online.
billbil-kun doesn’t know what games will come with the other three Nintendo Switch bundles. What they know is that there will be two bundles that will include the Nintendo Switch Lite, and one that will come with a Nintendo Switch OLED.
Of course, we already know that Nintendo made plans to hit their sales forecast of 13.5 million Nintendo Switch units by March 2025. If they get past that number, they may very well hit and pass the world record of the best-selling video game console in the world, unseating the current record holder in the PlayStation 2.
We already know that the Switch has become the best-selling video game console in Japan, and from what we learned last month, it may have already reached that record in the US. But as exciting as these can be for fans, Nintendo is probably more concerned about just clearing out as much stock of their console as possible, in the lead up to the announcement of the Switch’s successor.
But this raises questions if billbil-kun’s other claims are also correct. They have been implying that Nintendo won’t be announcing the Switch 2 yet, in light of these bundles. Since billbil-kun already got some details wrong, we can’t be entirely sure. It would make sense to stretch out these announcements as much as possible, but Nintendo can’t really avoid having to sell the Switch while teasing the next console.
Would this announcement compromise sales of the Switch bundles? Not if Nintendo makes good value packages. At a time when one can spend over $ 700 for new game hardware, Nintendo has an opportunity to target consumers at different incomes with different products.
