No one really initially thought Dead Island 2 would ever come out into the marketplace. It was trapped in development hell for years as studios tried to deliver something worth players’ time in the marketplace. Fortunately, we finally received this game, and if you were looking for a reason to play it once again, patch six might give you one!
Thanks to a report from Eurogamer, Dead Island 2 patch six is coming out this October 22nd. The developers at Dambuster Studios have revealed just what is coming out next for this game. They are not done providing content just yet, and this latest patch adds a new multiplayer mode and a highly requested feature. For starters, let’s talk about the new game mode.
Neighborhood Watch is coming into the game, which is a new cooperative game mode. Players can expect a horde mode with the storyline focusing on a frat house. You’ll have five days to set up traps, stockpile weapons, and prepare various defenses. On that final day, a horde of zombies will flood your area. It’s noted that players will continue to unlock new abilities to aid you in the next run. That’s, of course, if you survive the initial five days.
We’re also given a new location called Venice Canals. Dambuster Studios describes this area as tight alleys and murky waters filled with the undead you’ll have to contend with. But to top it off, a new feature is coming to the game that players have been asking the development team for, and that’s New Game+.
With New Game+, players can restart the main storyline with their favorite characters and weapons. You’ll also find a new additional skill slot and an increased level cap. Developers are also adding fresh new skins and brutal weapons for you to use.
That said, if you haven’t already picked up a copy of Dead Island 2, the game is now available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms. We have a Before You Buy video coverage of the game below from when it initially launched into the marketplace.
