The sci-fi retro-futuristic action platformer REPLACED has been delayed yet again, this time eyeing a 2025 release window. In May 2022, the game was pushed to 2023 due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, and was later pushed to 2024. Unfortunately, it looks like the developers were a little optimistic with this window.
“We’ll keep it short: REPLACED will now be released in 2025,” reads a message from Sad Cat Studios. “Our initial release date was optimistic, and we apologize for that. Developing REPLACED is quite a unique challenge, and we’re proud to be creating something that special.”
When eventually released, the unique title will be available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. It will also be made available on Xbox Game Pass.
“We need more time to ensure we meet the high standards we’ve set for ourselves and to meet the expectations of our fans,” the message continues. “Feel free to join our Discord we post lots of devlogs there to share the progress and are open for a chat.
REPLACED was featured at Summer Game Fest earlier this summer, and now it will also finally be available at Gamescom for everybody to play!”
A 2.5D side-scrolling action platformer, REPLACED will follow R.E.A.C.H., an artificial intelligence trapped in a human body against its own will. The title will blend pixel art and free-flowing action combat with a deep and engaging dystopian story set in an alternate version of the 1980s.
