Until Dawn Film Casts Peter Stormare as Dr. Hill

August 2, 2024 by Carley Garcia

The film does not yet have a release date.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Peter Stormare will reprise his role as Dr. Hill in the upcoming Until Dawn film adaptation. Announced by Sony Pictures earlier this year, the movie does not yet have an official release date, though production is expected to begin this month.

In Until Dawn, Dr. Hill is a therapist who makes several unsettling appearances throughout the horror title. His appearance in the live-action film implies that the movie’s script will closely follow the game. While Stormare is the only actor from the game currently confirmed for the movie, the cast lineup includes several impressive actors, including Maia Mitchell, Belmont Cameli, Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, and Odessa A’zion.

Gary Dauberman will pen the script, while David F. Sandberg, known for his work on Annabelle: Creation and Shazam, will direct.

During May’s PlayStation State of Play stream, Sony revealed a trailer for the highly-anticipated remaster of Until Dawn first teased back in January 2024. This week, the title received a new age rating by the ESRB, implying that the game is still in development.

“Until Dawn has been rebuilt with the latest tools and techniques. New and improved animations build on the success of the original character performances. Characters, environments and VFX have been upgraded – all for a truly enhanced cinematic horror experience,” creative director Neil McEwan said when the remake was first announced.

“We use a broader cinematic tonal color palette and new perspectives to make the story more nuanced and emotional. We’ve been brave enough to shine a light into the dark, unseen corners of Blackwood Mountain and added a third-person camera, which means you can now look behind the curtain of the original game, exploring enhanced and new locations with new interactions and collectibles.”

The Until Dawn remaster is coming to PC and PS5 this fall. The original is available on PlayStation 4.
