Larian Studios has revealed that Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 is getting delayed. But on the flip side, there’s some good news attached to that.
They shared this information on the Steam news portal for their store page:
“Well, the Patch 7 Closed Beta was set to begin today, but while preparing the build for you, we were once more humbled by the classic lesson taught to every game dev while playing bug-fix whack-a-mole: if you fix one bug over here, another one might still pop up over there.
This happened with one of the fixes we wanted to introduce in Patch 7, which has caused passive rolls to stop working. We’re trying to figure out how we got here, so while we do that, we’ll be pushing the Closed Beta back to later this week.
On the plus side, if you haven’t yet registered for your chance to take part in the beta, you still have time! You can register to be randomly selected by visiting the Baldur’s Gate 3 store page on Steam.”

So there it is. It couldn’t be easier to make yourself eligible to join the Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 beta, and it’s not too late for you to try. It’s certainly heartening to see that Larian is still trying to pin down every last thing they can improve out of Baldur’s Gate 3, even as we know they are already shopping around for new projects.
Larian also shared some interesting details on what else they have planned for Patch 7, and some of these might be enough to get their most devoted fans back into the mix.
It seems the big new addition are Evil Endings, and they are making brand new cinematics for the messiest of playthroughs.
There is also a big change to split screen that should make things even more fun for everyone who is into the role playing multiplayer. When player characters are close enough, the split screen dynamically merges into one screen. The screen splits into two again when those player characters then move away from each other far enough.
Lastly, and possibly most exciting for those still playing, is the addition of a Mod Manager. Larian themselves are adding the system so you can install community mods, and apparently there will even be an interface so you can go window shopping for them.
Larian and Baldur’s Gate 3 has a long way to go to match Hello Games and No Man’s Sky in demonstrating their devotion to their games and fans. However, they are certainly working hard to catch up to Hello Games’ headstart.
