Bandai Namco has published the launch trailer for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.
Bandai Namco also shares a description of the game scenario on its official site:
“ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree takes players beyond the Lands Between to explore the Land of Shadow, a completely new world from ELDEN RING.
Players can seamlessly travel back and forth between its vast maps interspersed with diverse situations and meticulous dungeons where menacing enemies roam.
Guided by Empyrean Miquella, players are beckoned to the Land of Shadow, a place obscured by the Erdtree where the goddess Marika first set foot.
In these strange new lands, players discover the dark secrets of the world as they meet others who follow in Miquella’s footsteps with ulterior motives.”
As expected, the game comes with the promise of new weapons and armor, new powers, new bosses and enemies to bring shape to this new narrative across what seems to be a world as big, if not bigger, than what was seen in the original.
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree releases on June 21, 2024 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows via Steam. Now, Bandai Namco made a special arrangement where the PlayStation and Xbox versions of Elden Ring are cross platform. The same is true of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.
This means, if you buy the DLC on PlayStation, you can freely switch between the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions. And the PlayStation 5 version is not the backwards compatible version, but a native PlayStation 5 port. And the same arrangement has been made between Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. However, if you buy this game on physical, only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S discs are available.
And then, of course, there are the multiple special physical and digital editions. But obviously fans are just eager to get their hands on the DLC overall. When we remember just how much of an impact the original Elden Ring made upon its release, its DLC may emerge to be one of the, if not the, top game of this year. As previews have pointed out, its scale seems to be that of an entire game all on its own, so fans aren’t likely to need any more DLC in lieu of a potential Elden Ring 2 sometime in the future.
