Xbox has been undergoing a lot of rumors lately as they have announced their next showcase, which is set to happen on June 9, with a Call of Duty showcase happening right after it. A leaker under the name eXtas1s has released a leak stating that they don’t believe that the release date will be further out, but that the portable handheld console would be announced during the showcase this month, according to GameRant.
People are thinking that a “smaller” leak could be taking place, which would be a very drift reveal of maybe part of the handheld or just a confirmion that the console is real overall. However, something else to keep in mind and consider is that it is rumored that Xbox’s handheld won’t be apart of the next-gen lineup, but instead would be something separate.
The brand new Xbox is said to be about four more years away, meaning there would be time for something like a Xbox handheld to be announced and even released before it is time for a new console. Having a handheld console announced at the Xbox Showcase seems unlikely, even though this is just a rumor.
While it is just a rumor, it is cool to think about the possibly of a handheld console from Xbox, maybe even something that could be compared to the PSP, which was PlayStation’s version of a handheld console. But also, handhelds seem to be the way to go, with the Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, and Asus Ally having become such a success.
