When it comes to Among Us, it’s a game that’s full of ironies. The first irony is that, despite what people think, it came out BEFORE the global pandemic. It was out for a good chunk of time before we were all locked inside and suddenly realized it was there. Then, once people rediscovered it, it became a global phenomenon like nothing we’d seen before. It even inspired the creation of other “pandemic games” to try and replicate the feel of it and give gamers something new to play. Another irony is that the game is still incredibly popular today, and the team at InnerSloth continues to update it with new content.
For example, they dropped a look at a special roadmap for the year we’re in and have promised loads of new stuff that will help keep Among Us fresh in the months to come. For example, they’re going to drop new roles you can be.
“Since we introduced the Engineer, Scientist, Guardian Angel, and Shapeshifter back in 2021, new roles has been one of the highest requested additions to the game – and for good reason! Roles introduced a new way to betray and bewilder Crewmates, and more ways to gather evidence against the Impostors.”
More roles are set to arrive soon, so be on the lookout for that! They also promised that there would be improved lobby filtering, and you’ll have better tools to search for specific lobbies via the settings menu. Oh, and speaking of that menu, it’s getting a facelift! So if you haven’t liked how the menu looks, it will be changing to help players on both sides of the equation.
InnerSloth also promised new cosmetics for you to wear and “slay in” and that they would attempt to collaborate more with other developers to keep things fun.
But they also know that there is some key quality-of-life issues to deal with:
“Along with the lobby settings and filtering mentioned above, we’re sprucing up other items that will make your ears (do Crewmates even have ears?) perk up. We’re cooking up other changes too – music for the lobbies (a Puffballs United original of course), Crewmate chatter popping at the top of the screen, and more.”
So, as you can see, the team is doing its best to make everything better and keep the game something you want to play in 2024. If nothing else, it might get you hyped for the TV series that’s coming!
