Giant Mudcrabs, dragon mounts and adoption – these could be the best mods ever, or they could be the result of Bethesda and Zenimax’s very own game jam.
During his keynote at DICE, Todd Howard, Creative Director at Bethesda, spoke briefly about the game jam the Skyrim team held. They gave developers a week to develop whatever they wanted within the game, and some of the stuff they came up with is incredible.
Ranging from graphical improvements, new weapons and even new skill trees, the display of the game jam results were… well, to be honest, not one of them was a bad idea, and they’re all things that would go really well in the game.
While Howard said they 'don't know' if the developments will be included as DLC, he didn’t rule it out, either, which is pretty exciting. That being said, now that they’ve been given the ideas (and the creation kit,) it’s probably not long until modders whip something up of their own.
You can check out the video of the keynote over at Gamespot, with the sweet game jam action happening at around 20 minutes in. It’s worth giving the entire talk a watch, however, as Howard is actually a pretty funny guy with a lot of really great things to tell you about why people create games, and why people play them.
Seriously, Bethesda, I need that dragon mount. Don’t hold out on me, Todd.
