In 2019, Arkane founder Raphaël Colantonio left the studio after nearly two decades. During his tenure, he served as president and co-creative director, working on games like Dishonored and Prey. That same year, Colantonio teamed up with former Arkane exec Julien Roby to open WolfEye Studios.
After releasing its debut game Weird West in 2022, the duo has announced what players can expect next.
In a new post on X, the pair mentioned that they’re pitching a new game at GDC 2024. The text on the screen reads ‘retro sci-fi FPS,’ while a second image confirms that the upcoming title will be first-person.
Last May, it was announced that venture capital firm Galaxy Interactive had invested in WolfEye Studios, prompting excitement from the team.
“Our partnership with Galaxy will allow us to maintain our independence, while also allowing us to get more ambitious with our next game – which is a dream situation to be in,” said Roby.
“The company will spend the next months expanding their talented development team and will continue to develop a prototype for an ambitious new IP, which is yet to be announced.”
WolfEye’s debut game, Weird West, was released in March 2022 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with an updated version coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in May 2023. The title combined elements of the American Wild West with the supernatural, earning positive reviews for its world but criticism for its many technical issues. Weird West was nominated for Role-Playing Game of the Year at the 26th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards.
