Thousands of pounds worth of Nintendo games were stolen from a lorry parked overnight in the UK last week, local police have revealed.
This is the second time Nintendo stock has been stolen in the UK.
The theft happened overnight on April 13th at some point between 21:00 and 07:00 when thieves slashed the side of the vehicle as the driver was sleeping and stole the contents. The lorry was parked at the A14’s Thrapston service station at the time.
No information has been provided on the games stolen but some UK fans are concerned about their orders for Star Fox Zero, the Wii U exclusive that launches today.
Details of the crime were made public by the Northamptonshire police service today along with an appeal for any information.
“Anyone with information can contact Northamptonshire police on 101,” the police comment on their website. “Alternatively, they can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
In late May of last year, the UK’s allotment of colourful shooter Splatoon and its associated Amiibo was also stolen. The lorry involved in that incident had been travelling from Nintendo of Europe’s distribution center in Germany to the main warehouse of retailer GAME in the UK. Stock stolen in that incident has never been reported recovered.
Some customers were not able to get their pre-ordered copies of Splatoon as a result of the theft at launch but there are no current reports of Star Fox Zero shortages.
Star Fox Zero, a collaboration between Nintendo and Platinum Games, has received mixed reviews.
