Mass Effect 3 might signal the end of Commander Shepard's story, but BioWare's Casey Hudson is certain that it won't be the end of the franchise.
In the latest issue of UK gaming mag PSM3 (via CVG), Hudson said the team wasn't sentimental about wrapping up work on the last game in the trilogy.
"We're probably too busy to feel sad it's over right now. I don't think I'll be sad. We're not done yet, and I don't know what the final experience will be, but I'm pretty sure Mass Effect 3 is the best in the series.
"We had ambitious goals, but to make a whole series that spans recessions, BioWare's independence, different publishers… Well, we did it in the end."
Hudson then went on to confirm that the franchise would live past Mass Effect 3, at least in some form.
"We don't know exactly, but there will be more Mass Effect for Mass Effect fans, I'm sure."
Hudson's comments certainly aren't the first indication that BioWare has plans for the franchise to continue sans Shepard. Last week, associate producer Mike Gamble said it "wouldn't be a bad idea" to hang onto your save files, just in case a fourth game is on the way.
Mass Effect 3 will be out for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on March 6 in North America and March 9 in Europe.
