Speaking at an investor call, Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick boasted that the company has "never been in better shape" and referring to the likes of Grand Theft Auto V, that it "never had more important franchises."
Zelnick stressed that the company was ready for next-gen development, but cautioned that it had to be thoughtful about how it managed its portfolio with new platforms due to the low install base.
He compared the birth of new platforms to the process of natural selection.
"When these platform transitions occur, the strong become stronger and the weak go away," he said. "So we have to be thoughtful about how we manage our portfolio, and we and all our competitors are thinking about it."
"t's a little pre-mature because it's early days yet, but it's something that we're being very thoughtful about."
THQ has plans to release Grand Theft Auto V on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, with gamers speculating that the studio may also look at a release on the PC and Nintendo Wii U.
