Ratchet and Clank was one of the premiere platformers of the PlayStation 2 era, and with 2016’s Ratchet and Clank re-imagining, Insomniac is bringing 3D platformers back to the forefront of the world of video games.
While Ratchet and Clank‘s $40 price tag and the fact that it’s a retelling of the events from the very first Ratchet and Clank game on the PS2 may indicate that the game is just a rehash, reviews are quick to point out that this new version is very much it’s own new game, built from the ground up for the PlayStation 4.
As Cassidee Moser of Gamespot puts it, “[Ratchet and Clank is] less of a reboot and more of a return to form, revitalizing and updating the franchise while simultaneously keeping its use of inventive weapons, alien worlds, and quirky attitude intact.”
One aspect of the game that is consistently praised from review to review is it’s visuals, oftentimes being compared to the works of Pixar and Dreamworks.
Here is a collection of reviews from the press so you can check out what the world is saying about the lombax/robot duo for yourself.
