Sony is still pushing the VR gaming medium, and whether you’re over the VR scene or have yet to even try it out, a new deal today might persuade you to check out the PSVR 2. If you don’t recall, the PlayStation VR2 first launched into the marketplace earlier this year. On February 22, 2023, the new iteration of Sony’s PlayStation VR was delivered into the marketplace, and it gives players a chance to check out VR through the power of the PlayStation 5 console. While the new VR headset is still rather new, as it just launched this year, a further discount has appeared, giving it our first look at this PlayStation 5 accessory without digging too deep into our wallets.
Thanks to Gamesradar, we discovered that the PlayStation VR2 is now discounted on Amazon Prime Day. According to the report, you can find discounts in both the United States and the UK. Currently, if you check out the PlayStation VR2 on Amazon, you’ll find that it’s now available for just $509.15. That’s still not a cheap device, but it does bring the VR headset down from its standard $549.99. If you are in the market for the PlayStation VR2, this will be your best bet if you’re after a new unit.
Likewise, as noted by Gamesradar, this discount comes right when another big VR headset launches, the Meta Quest 3. That said, you will find that the Meta Quest 3 comes in a bit cheaper than even the discounted PlayStation VR2. Currently, the newly released Meta Quest 3 will set consumers back $499.99. So it might just come down to whether you want a standalone VR headset or one that relies on the PlayStation 5 console. With that said, if you’re coming from the PlayStation VR, you’ll find the successor does have some improvements.
With the PlayStation VR2, you only have one USB C cable to connect, and then you’re ready to game. You’ll find that the headset also sports two OLED panels with a 4K resolution and 90 HZ/ 120 HZ framerate. You’ll also find that there are several PlayStation VR2 games to enjoy, such as the Horizon Call of the Mountain. This title launched early this year and provides a new immersive experience within the Horizon universe. If you’re looking for a bit more insight into the PlayStation VR2, then you’re in luck. We have a Before You Buy coverage of the VR headset, which you can view below.
