If you’re a fan of Cyberpunk 2077, you know that the game launch was pretty rough. It took the developers quite a long time, too, in order to get the game turned around. However, the state of the game from when it first launched to now is drastically different. But it’s about to get even better later this month with the big 2.0 update. Unfortunately, this update will only land on the latest generation of platforms. Today, we’re finding out when the 2.0 update will be available for players to download.
Thanks to an official post from the Cyberpunk 2077 X account, we are discovering that the big 2.0 update coming to Cyberpunk 2077 will be available on September 21, 2023. That is just a few days before the launch of the only expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, Phantom Liberty. I know that fans would be eager to dive into this update just to get a feel of how the new mechanics and systems will work when the Phantom Liberty expansion arrives. However, as mentioned, this is only for those on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 platforms.
This free update is going to bring in several revamps to the gameplay experience. We know that we’ll get redesigns to skill trees, perks, revamps for cyberware and police systems, UI improvements, vehicle combat, and car chases, among other aspects, to provide a fresh new gameplay experience. It’s worth noting that this update does not bring any of the content from the expansion that CD Projekt Red has marketed. Phantom Liberty is its own thing, and that will cost players if they wish to pay for the expansion.
With Phantom Liberty, players would get a new questline set within the base game campaign. That adds new quests, gigs, boss fights, weapons, cyberware, and new characters. Of course, that also means a brand new area to explore within Night City. Players will get to explore Dogtown, a new dangerous area unlocked, but we’ll have to wait and see what this area brings when it launches on September 26, 2023. Again, much like the free update, this expansion is only set to launch on PC, Xbox Series X/S and the PlayStation 5. In the meantime, you can check out a new cinematic trailer for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty in the video we have embedded below.
