Xbox Series X Starfield Console Wrap Already Getting A Positive Reception

August 29, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

Customize your console.

There are plenty of limited edition consoles released that have a unique look to them. But for some, paying the extra amount of money for a brand new console that you already own just to get that new aesthetic is out of the question. Of course, there have been companies in the past that provided wraps and decals you can stick to your console. These vary significantly in quality, but now it looks like Microsoft is providing some new wraps to provide on your Xbox Series X. This gives you a unique look while keeping with your same console unit.

The Xbox Series X console wraps were already revealed earlier this month. It’s essentially a cover that goes around the console. One of the first big themes to get released for this console will be based around Bethesda’s upcoming RPG, Starfield. Unfortunately, it won’t be released alongside the game. Instead, you’ll have to pay for this console wrap within October of this year. With that said, it looks like Tom Warren from The Verge has already obtained a console wrap and is sharing his thoughts.

According to a recent post providing a first look at the new upcoming accessory from Xbox, this seems to be a winner. Tom notes how it feels soft and thin while keeping all the ports and vents from being blocked. It’s worth pointing out that this is not a sticker or decal. So if you don’t want to carefully place something with adhesive on your console, and believe me, I get it, then you can rest easy. Instead, it’s a cover that folds around three sides of the console while velcroing in the back.

It should be interesting to see how well these console wraps take off. This is not the first time we’ve seen Microsoft attempt to bring some kind of customization look to their consoles. If you recall, the Xbox 360 had faceplates that players could interchange. These faceplates didn’t customize the majority of the console but instead only offered a new look at the front of the console unit. However, those didn’t seem to catch on with too many players, so we’ll have to see if this new attempt provides better results for Microsoft.

Again, first impressions online seem to be great. The first console wrap will be released on October 18, 2023, for $49.99. Currently, only three wraps are showcased from Microsoft, which are the Starfield wrap and two different camo wraps.
