One of the fan favorite characters from the Uncharted series will not make an appearance in the upcoming Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. According to creative director for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, has noted to GamesRadar that Doughnut Drake will not make it on the upcoming video game after the development team debated on adding the character model.
One of the character skins that players can unlock in the past three main installments within Uncharted is an overweight Drake character model. This was done through various challenges such as earning one thousand medal points in Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. However, the character model was scrapped for the fourth main installment.
This decision wasn’t an easy one as the development team already went through creating the character model. Although, after careful consideration, the Naughty Dog felt that they didn’t want to place a joke in the game at someones expense.
I didn’t want to have a laugh at someone’s expense, I thought we’d matured beyond that.
We actually had the whole thing modelled and in there. We had a big debate about it and kind of approached it from all kinds of angles and decided we weren’t comfortable having it in our game.
