Yesterday, we reported that the first batch of Modern Warfare 3 DLC was locked to a single Xbox Live profile, in direct violation of Microsoft's own terms of use. At the time, it was unclear whether the restriction was intentional or a bug caused by the new Elite service, Infinity Ward community manager Robert Bowling has confirmed that the restriction is "unintentional" and will be remedied soon.
"We understand that ELITE Premium Members on Xbox Live who purchased the latest DLC Content Drop for Modern Warfare 3 are unable to access that content while signed into other profiles on the same console that originally downloaded the content," Bowling told Joystiq. "This is unintentional and we will work to get an update out as soon as possible that corrects this issue and allows you to continue to enjoy the new maps."
No sinister machinations, no evil Kotickian plot to steal your hard earned money. Just a simple technical error that's being fixed as we speak. Who ever said the only news was bad news?
