Ubisoft Fixes Anno 2070 DRM Issue

January 21, 2012 by Ian Miles Cheong

Ubisoft has fixed the issue with Anno 2070’s DRM.

Ubisoft has issued a fix for the DRM in Anno 2070 in light of the recent report that the DRM gobbles up a single activation each time you replace the graphics card on your computer.

Despite assumptions that the issue was a bug, the DRM was in fact working as its designers intended. The game’s developer Bluebyte got in touch with Guru3D, which originally wrote about the issue, to say,

“Just wanted to let you know, that we now remove the graphics hardware from the hash used to identify the PC. That means everyone should now be able to switch the GFX as many times as he/she wants.”

We may not be huge fans of DRM, but we understand their necessity. Ubisoft’s decision to work out the kinks with the gaming community reflects positively upon them as a gaming company, and we hope to see publishers like EA follow suit with their tech support.
