After less than two months on the market, Minecraft Pocket Edition has already sold more than 700,000 copies. That staggering figure comes courtesy of Mojang's Daniel Kaplan's tweets, which also revealed that the developer now sells around 5000 new copies of the game every day.
It's unclear whether the reported figures are for the Android or iOS versions of the game, or if they instead represent a cumulative tally on both platforms.
For comparison, the most recent tally from creator Markus "Notch" Persson has the PC version of Minecraft at around 4.6 million copies sold. Still, it's worth noting that the PC version has had more than two years of head start on its mobile spinoff, and Pocket Edition's success is certainly nothing to scoff at.
Earlier this month, Mojang announced that both the iOS and Android versions of Minecraft Pocket Edition would be getting a significant update in February that would help to lay the groundwork for future features, like monsters and crafting.
