Just yesterday we posted about MercurySteam teasing about some type of announcement set for today. Through speculation, a number of gamers including myself assumed that tomorrow we would get the reveal for their next big video game in development, which would have been the latest game since the development studio released Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. Since 2014, things have been pretty quiet though we’ll finally get word of what’s next for this studio sometime in April.
As mentioned, MercurySteam tweeted out that today a new future begins to dawn, a countdown of some sort. However, we’re still left in the dark as to what this countdown will be based about. Regardless, the development studio, MercurySteam, posted up a new teaser website and some concept art images for what will likely be their next IP.
What we know so far is that Dave Cox, former head of Konami, is involved with the new project and that the studio had been considering a number of different options for what they would work on after their 2014 release of Castlevania: Lords of the Shadow 2. One of those titles was reportedly a prototype of Metroid for the Wii U, a video game that was shot down by Nintendo.
According to the countdown currently displayed on MercurySteam’s website, we’ll see a reveal sometime this April. For now, we can guess as to what the studio may possibly be working on through the concept images provided. Take a look at the images yourself down below and let us know what you think the next video game title may be based around by leaving a comment.
