A new rumor has appeared suggesting that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be revealed this coming E3.
Our source received an email with several details, that unfortunately, cannot be independently verified. Keeping this in mind, it does line up with earlier rumors regarding Red Dead Redemption 2.
The full name is Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the Old West, and it has already been in development for four years. It will be released in Fall 2017, and will be a considerably bigger game than the first Red Dead Redemption. There will be more than one playable character, and it will also be set in a bigger open world. Aside from this, Rockstar is working on a rerelease of the first Red Dead Redemption for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One that will be releasing later in 2016.
As far back as May 2014, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick referred to Red Dead Redemption as a permanent franchise, raising hopes with fans that a sequel would eventually be made. Rumors started September of that same year, when Red Dead Redemption developer Rockstar San Diego advertised a staggering 37 new job openings, suggesting they would be ramping up on larger projects. At this time, Red Dead Redemption 2 was rumored to be only coming for PlayStation 4. Another tease also came from former Opie & Anthony staffer and Rockstar employee Danny Ross. Ross was hired by Rockstar for voice work for the Chatterbox radio stations in the Grand Theft Auto games, so it seemed credible that he would have also known about future projects. Bringing it full circle, Strauss Zelnick once again spoke in an investor’s meeting, revealing 2K would have a major presence in this year’s E3.
