Alan Wake was a hit for Remedy Entertainment, but it’s a game that was released back in 2010. Despite being now over a decade old, there were fans hopeful that an Alan Wake sequel would come out into the marketplace. Fortunately, we know now that an Alan Wake II is in the works, and we should get the game sometime this year. While this installment is said to be more of a survival horror experience, it won’t release without some support going into the title after its launch.
For fans waiting on Alan Wake II, it’s likely there were already assumptions that DLC was going to come afterward. But at least we have some confirmation on the matter. Recently, the developers over at Remedy Entertainment had a call with investors in which the topic of future game releases was mentioned. In particular, the topic of Remedy Entertainment’s three commercial models was featured. Those models broke down service-based fixed-price games with DLC, free-to-play live games, and premium fixed-price games with DLC. With Alan Wake 2, the game will fall under the premium fixed-price games with an additional payable downloadable content model.
Remedy Entertainment says that this is a model used in the majority of Remedy’s existing games. Included future titles that will fall under this model includes Alan Wake 2 and Control 2. But it will likely be a little while before we get any insight into the post-launch content planned for Alan Wake 2. All we know right now is that this survival horror title is only slated to launch this year, with no specific release date attached to the game project quite yet.
However, it was also reported that the developers feel confident that Alan Wake 2 will arrive this year. So at some point, we should be able to enjoy this game before 2023 wraps. We’ll just have to continue monitoring the game development and wait for an official release date to be unveiled. That said, we know that once Alan Wake 2 releases into the marketplace, we’ll find it on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms. In the meantime, you can check out the game reveal trailer for Alan Wake 2 in the video we have embedded above. Unfortunately, little is known about the game now, so marketing materials should start to hit the public soon if the team strives to release this game within the year.
