In the time leading up to the release of Uncharted 4, Naughty Dog has been releasing a five part series of videos giving an inside look at the “making of” process behind the latest installment of the game. In this latest video, they talk to the voice actors, artists, producers, programmers and other Uncharted veterans as they reminisce on their years spent with the game, an enchanting look at the series’ legacy and how it has grown since its inception.
In the video the various members of the Naughty Dog team cover a number of topics, including their ability to show Nathan Drake as he ages over the years and how they’ve taken advantage of the advancing technology so as to better portray the skin texture of an older action adventure hero. As Nathan’s creators have matured so too has Nathan, and from the interviews it’s clear that Uncharted 4 will feature a more thoughtful, contemplative version of his former self, one that reflects the how the priorities of the developers have shifted as they’ve grown.
This is the second of five planned featurettes; the first was entitled The Evolution of a Franchise. The next two episodes will cover “pushing technical boundaries” and the third, called In The End, will cover how Naughty Dog plans to wrap up the series.
After a series of multiple delays, including an entire rewrite from scratch following the departure of original writers Amy Hennig and Justin Richmond, Uncharted 4 will debut exclusively on the PlayStation 4 on May 10, 2016.
