There hasn’t been much in the way of Crackdown 3 news lately but with tidings such as these, who needs anything more substantial?
Over at the game’s official forums, the Crackdown 3 community manager posted the second of two recent image teasers, playfully included as part of both #FacialHairFriday and their weekly giveaway #FreeStuffFriday. As you can see it gives a glimpse of some of the gloriously macho facial hair options in Crackdown 3, most notably the trim Josef Franz-style beard highlighted in the center. Very nice. The first teaser image, which was posted last week, asked fans to name a strange, unidentified object “found” in some artwork on the computer of Crackdown 3 Senior Art director Dave Johnson. You can see that picture below. So far the most popular guesses all involve vehicle parts but me, I’m going with “hot electric Nuka Quantum hamster feeder”.
Last December Microsoft mentioned Crackdown 3 in a longform interview detailing some of their plans with regards to future releases. Specifically they discussed how the most risky factor of Crackdown 3 is the cloud based server that the game will heavily rely on for its intense open world sandbox multiplayer mode, which is under the direction of Dave Jones, the founder of Crackdown 3 developer Cloudgine. However it will be supported by Microsoft in the form of their Azure servers, which Microsoft sees as having future potential in combination with Cloudgine’s technologies to bring “cloud computing” for use in future video game technology, reducing burden on the hardware.
Crackdown 3 is expected on Xbox One sometime this year.
