Minecraft's outspoken creator and all-round awesome indie game developer, Markus "Notch" Persson, spoken up against the poorly named Stop Online Piracy Act, or SOPA, which threatens to curb the freedom of speech on the internet.
Certain companies like GoDaddy—which cowrote the legislation—would be immune from the legislation, which largely targets "hostile foreign websites", but opens many American websites to immediate shutdown without any due process whatsoever.
Speaking with PC Gamer, the Swedish game designer had harsh words for the bill.
"No sane person can be for SOPA. I don't know if we're sane, but we are strongly, uncompromisingly against SOPA and any similar laws," he said on behalf of his company, Mojang AB. "Sacrificing freedom of speech for the benefit of corporate profit is abominable and disgusting."
Notch can count himself among the likes of Reddit, Google, Facebook, Tumblr, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, the ACLU, and numerous other organizations who oppose the bill.
