Is Kirby’s Return To Dreamland Deluxe Getting New Epilogue Content?

January 30, 2023 by Todd Black

One more story to tell?

One of the defining “features” of the Nintendo Switch has been the numerous ports that have graced the system. Most have come from the Wii U era of titles, but others from the Wii and non-Nintendo platforms have come in bulk. Last October alone saw numerous highly-anticipated ports arrive on Switch, and 2023 seems to be no different in the port department. One thing that most of these ports have, especially the Nintendo titles, is extended content to make you feel like you’re playing something fresh and not solely a port. That brings us to Kirby’s Return To Dreamland Deluxe, which is rumored to be getting post-game content of its own.

A picture on Reddit allegedly showcases the back side of the game case for the title. On the bottom-right side of the case, you can see an advertisement for a “Magalor Epilogue.” Magalor is the character that Kirby and his allies are helping in the game as they attempt to collect the pieces of his ship after they’re scattered across Dream Land.

While they’re hard to see, there are screenshots of this alleged adventure within that section, so this could be a new story for players to try. This wouldn’t be the first time Nintendo did epilogue content for one of their ports. When Monolith Soft made Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, they added an epilogue segment that tied into Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

This epilogue content will likely be a short yet fun side story for fans to enjoy and get more playtime with the title. However, it should be noted that until Nintendo confirms this, it should be treated as nothing more than a rumor.

To that end, this rumor fuels more speculation about the Nintendo Direct that many believe is coming in February. February has been the “drop zone” for Directs in the last few years, so it makes sense for Nintendo to release one around that time. Not surprisingly, there have already been rumors about when the Direct may come and what might be in it. Unfortunately, those rumors haven’t panned out, but that doesn’t mean the Nintendo Direct isn’t coming.

Depending on the date, Kirby’s Return To Dreamland Deluxe could get a new trailer within that Direct to highlight its upcoming release and show off the Magalor epilogue. Only time will tell on that front.

No matter what, you can find out the truth when the title arrives on Nintendo Switch on February 24th.
